Downtown Indy Fourth Fest
If you want a classic Independence Day celebration, head downtown for Downtown Indy Fourth Fest at American Legion Mall, 601 N. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis. Beginning in the evening, visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, a Kids Zone, local vendors, and one of the city’s largest fireworks displays. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy an unforgettable evening in the heart of downtown.
Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Star-Spangled Symphony
Nothing says Fourth of July like patriotic music under the stars. The Star-Spangled Symphony takes place at Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs patriotic favorites while guests picnic on the lawn before a spectacular fireworks finale. It’s one of Central Indiana’s most beloved Independence Day traditions.
Celebrate the Holiday in Literary Style
The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, 543 Indiana Avenue, Indianapolis, will celebrate the holiday on July 4 at with multiple events the opening of the new exhibit “Views of Human Rights” exhibit (at 11 a.m.) a Vonnegut Family reunion panel (from 12-1 p.m.), live music, festive trivia, and a direct viewing party for the downtown fireworks from the LVML balcony (7 to 11 p.m.)
History Lovers
Visit the Benjamin Harrison President Site, 1230 North Delaware, Indianapolis, for Coffee with the Curator on July 3. Grab morning coffee and donuts while exploring the Harrison family’s deep connections to America’s founding ideals.
CarmelFest
Just north of Indianapolis, CarmelFest fills downtown Carmel with two days of family entertainment. Activities center around Carter Green, One Center Green, Carmel, and include live music, carnival rides, a parade, food vendors, children’s activities, and a fireworks show. It’s an excellent destination for families looking for an all-day celebration.
Lawrence 4th Fest
Families on the northeast side can enjoy Lawrence 4th Fest at Lawrence Community Park, 5301 N. Franklin Road, Lawrence. The event features a parade, live entertainment, food vendors, games, and an evening fireworks display. This community celebration has become a favorite for residents throughout the metro area.
Catch an Indianapolis Indians Game
While baseball is out of town for the Fourth, spend an afternoon or evening after a weekend of celebrating our country’s anniversary by cheering on the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field, 501 W. Maryland Street, Indianapolis. One of the nation’s top-rated minor league ballparks offers a fun family atmosphere, great food, and beautiful views of the downtown skyline. Holiday weekend games are always a crowd favorite.
Explore White River State Park
If you’re looking for a slower pace, spend part of the weekend exploring White River State Park, 801 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis. Walk the scenic canal, rent bikes, visit nearby museums, or enjoy an outdoor picnic before heading to one of the area’s evening fireworks celebrations.
